America's Apple Pie Lie!
How Our Myths are Foreclosing on The Home of The Brave

Teri can show
your Audience:

How the tales of the everyday person are imprisoning the land of the free.

How America's mythology assures our President's failure.

Stories that have our education system flunking out!

Myths about Western medicine that are making us sick.

The Fairy Tales of success and how it is failing us.

How competition has become a losing mythology

The old tales that are worth retelling

How our love for the hero is diluting our courage

How our wisdom is stagnating due to lack of courage.

The need for a New American Tale — to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.

We love a hero. It has become the favorite story line of the American psyche. It also has become the most crippling, dangerous and threatening enemy to the very freedoms, liberties, and justices upon which we stand. Every hero story must also have a victim and a villain. In our love for the hero we have created a seemingly endless need for victims and villains. We need people to be wrong and wronged — or the hero cannot brandish the sword of righteousness or shield the helpless from the wrong-doers of the world. Competition has become about beating the other guy more than about honing and developing higher skills, standards and creative thought. Our passion for the hero has made us supporters of blame, resentment, defensiveness, shame, intolerance, quitting, excuses and apathy — in our self and in others.

In the very blood of America lies what has now become a seemingly recessive gene — the courage to let go of the familiar (and the illusion of its security) and to embrace the new — to bring back the stories of adventure, excitement and willingness to change. It is time for each of us to be the movement we seek and claim the power that comes with it.
